2025 GCSE Easter Programme

The programmes below are prepared for the GCSE exam. The course takes place during Easter holidays. If you are interested, please submit the registration form by 21st March 2025.

English

Day 1 : Critically reading non-fiction extracts (English Language)

Day 2 : Critically reading fiction extracts (English Language)

Day 3 : Creative writing (English Language)

Day 4 : Tackling unseen poetry (English Literature)

Students will be placed in groups with other GCSE students led by an experienced English tutor. Your child is welcome to join us regardless of their current / predicted grades and exam board.

Our GCSE course tutor, Jay, has experience working across all exam boards, including International GCSEs, and with a variety of set texts, including Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, An Inspector Calls, Blood Brothers, DNA, A Christmas Carol, a range of poetry anthologies and more.

Maths

Day 1 : Numbers + Algebra + Exam paper 1 (Non-Cal)

Day 2 : Ratio & Proportion + Exam paper 2 (Cal)

Day 3 : Geometry + Exam paper 3 (Cal) Day 4 : Probability + Statistics 

The course is aiming for students working towards a Grade 7 or above at GCSE. And work solutions are also included. Our GCSE Maths course material consists of four workbooks with a range of questions from key crossover topics from AQA and Edexcel that appear in both the GCSE Foundation and Higher tier papers.

- Practising each workbook with two sections ;

  INTRODUCE (fluency questions on each topic to practise the key concepts.),

  DEEPEN (Mixed topic questions that are more challenging reasoning and problem solving questions.)

- GCSE Maths exam questions on each day practising exam style questions and writing model answers.

Summer Course for Year 5 and Year 4

2024 Year 5 Summer Intensive Programme | 5 Aug – 23 Aug 2024 (3 weeks)

Alpha Study Centre’s Summer Intensive Programme will be taught by a team of tutors with years of experience preparing students for 11+ exams. This is a great opportunity for students to hone their skills and identify weak spots. The Summer Intensive Course has been running since 2014 and in that time we have helped hundreds of children gain places in independent and grammar schools.

Please contact us by 21 June 2024 to register your interest. Demand is usually very high and places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

We are offering two options: You can either attend the intense programme online from your house or you can attend in person at our centre in New Malden. Please note: we are not offering a blended course; although the online and offline programmes cover the same material, they are separate courses taught by different tutors.

*We will be closed between 20 Jul and 4 Aug before Summer Holiday Courses.

[Our Classes]    

English Comprehension classes will provide high-quality training and practice in a wide range of comprehension skills in a stimulating and enjoyable environment. Using a curriculum designed to challenge and engage students, we build on students’ existing knowledge and skills, expanding and developing them to ensure they are prepared for the 11+ test.

English Writing classes will be run by tutors with extensive teaching experience. We will work on writing in timed conditions and practise implementing literary techniques in a variety of fiction and non-fiction forms. Our tutors will provide detailed individual feedback so that our students can grow and develop as writers.

M2 Maths class specialises in dealing with and tackling math problem solving questions and mathematical comprehension skills! Our highly experienced tutors and our in-house materials will cover a broad spectrum of questions designed to walk students through the complexities of multi-stepped questions and through hands on teaching, take them through the in-and-outs of how to approach and tackle these kinds of demanding questions!

We don’t believe in struggling alone so our M2 classes are designed to build up our students collectively; with small group problem based learning, interactive group work and peer review based learning.

M1 Maths classes delivers comprehensive and detailed practice in numeracy, algebra and all KS2 maths skills that students will need for their 11+ math exams! In our M1 course we will specialise in helping our students prepare and tackle multiple-choice style papers, through fully tailored group lessons and stimulating practice sessions in addressing; exam time-management, question interpretation skills and mathematical fluency.

Our professional tutors excel in teaching the tricks and skills to smoothly conquer any type of questions they may face! We have designed our invigorating course to help our students build a confidence and drive, to look positively on their upcoming exams and with our proven track record, our students have thrived from our teaching and our in-house M1 course materials to confidently and fluently prepare for their 1st round of exams and have thus far only shown amazing results!
